Altamaha Lance Elliptio shepardiana

The attenuate form of the endemic lance makes it one of the most easily recognizable of the Altamaha's mussels. Patchily distributed, it is found in a wide variety of substrates, and is uncommon to rare along the Altamaha and Ohoopee rivers, and occasionally on small tributaries. Seven records of the species are from seven quads and five counties.
