Arrow Arum Peltandra sagittifolia (Michx.) Morong
Sometimes
called "spoonflower," this perennial has arrow-shaped leaves and its
flowers closely resemble those of the Easter lily. It grows in wet,
acidic, deeply shaded bay forests. In the late summer, clusters of
bright red fruits are produced. Arrow arum suffers when the water
table in its habitat is drawn down and the peaty soil in which it
grows dries out. Four populations were found during the inventory.
