Barrel Floater Anodonta couperiana

This small mussel occurs in Georgia and Florida; it is especially common in central Florida. The species has been found rarely in a variety of substrates ranging from fine sand and silt to clay sediments. It has been collected in the Altamaha River, but not recorded in the Ohoopee River basin. There is a single record is from the Baxley Northeast quad in Appling and Toombs counties.
