Dissected Beardtongue Penstemon dissectus Elliott

This purple-flowered perennial has opposite leaves which are finely divided into linear segments. It is only found around sandstone outcrops in the Altamaha Grit region of Georgia's coastal plain. Where it occurs, other rare plants are often found. Trash dumping and off road vehicle use are the main threats to the outcrops where dissected beardtongue grows.
