Inflated Floater Anodonta gibbosa

This rare pearly mussel is known only from the Altamaha River basin, where it is sparsely distributed in protected waters in fine silt and clay substrates. It is notable for its globose shape and thin shell. It has been recorded at three locations on the Baxley NE, Doctortown and Reidsville quads in five counties.
