Pineland Plantain Plantago sparsiflora Michx.

The leaves of this perennial are hairy and clustered in a basal rosette, the flowers scattered on knee high spikes, and the capsules two-seeded.

Pineland plantain is rare on low roadsides and savannas along the lower coastal plain from North Carolina to Florida. In the study area, populations are found on seasonally wet, mowed roadsides.

The largest known population of pineland plantain is within the Altamaha basin.
