Altamaha Pocketbook Lampsilis dolabraeformis

This large, thick-shelled, round mussel is common and widespread along the Altamaha and lower Ohoopee rivers, where it is endemic. It occurs within a wide range of sand and silt sediments in shallow water near bars. The pocketbook has been noted on six quads in five counties in the study area.
